CURRENT PROJECTS UNDERWAY FOR OGBA
USA
NPC is working closely with the Hawaii Natural Energy Institute (HNEI) at University of Hawaii on partnership efforts that include funding and development of a demonstration Wave Energy Conversion (WEC) project featuring NPC’s patent-pending ocean Buoy Grid Array technology.
Product Features
A system and method for Generating Electricity using a buoy array in the open ocean currents. Features a simple, mechanical power take-off approach and a unique array management structure.
Can be used in conjunction with the NPC FWT to increase the output and provide fresh water at the same time.
-
Novel in its ability to manage multiple buoys in a hexagonal array, mitigating the risk of damage from severe ocean conditions.
-
Simple, mechanical point -absorber energy transfer buoy component with minimal moving parts reduces cost and complexity;
-
Vertical, free-floating, bottom weighted central spars with deep water stabilization ;
-
Centralized power distribution system to accommodate multiple units in an array;
-
Articulating array management structure to keep multiple buoy units equidistant;
-
Sprag clutch drive and generator system effectively captures the vertical up and down movement of the energy transfer;
-
Impervious to floating debris and garbage.
